Obituary of David G. Heavenridge

HARTFORD CITY – David G. Heavenridge, 92, died at 10:07 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Blackford Community Hospital.

He was born on May 18, 1917 in Muncie to the late Harry Heavenridge and the late Addie (Pershing) Heavenridge.

David graduated in 1935 from Central High School in Muncie. He attended Ball State University.

He married Hope B. (Flory) Heavenridge on May 25, 1940 in Bremen, Indiana.

David worked at Johnston Glass Company as a commercial artist. Later, David, his wife Hope and son Craig, founded Dacra Glass. Which specialized in inspirational glass gifts that were designed, produced and sold both nationally and internationally.

He became an accomplished water-color artist with recognition for his work in the Hoosier Artists Show.

David’s hobbies included photography, bowling, fishing, camping and canoeing. He loved all forms of nature and was happiest working in his yard or landscaping at Dacra North or Dacra South. Recently Elk’s Lodge honored David with a 60-year membership pin.

David will be sadly missed by his wife of 69 years, Hope B. Heavenridge of Hartford City; son Craig A. Heavenridge of Hartford City; daughter, Connie J. Heavenridge of Anniston, Alabama; grandson, Justin Heavenridge attending I.U. in Bloomington, Indiana; several nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Robert Heavenridge.

David will be cremated.

A Celebration of his life will be private for his family.
