BARRUS, BENJAMIN MARRINER, was born 16 Sep., 1891, at Fairview, Wyoming. A son of Emery Freeman Barrus and Martha Ann Tolman. He lived his entire life at Fairview, receiving his schooling there and attended the Academy at Paris, Idaho, and the A. C. at Logan, Utah. He was a beloved and obedient child.

On 8 Oct., 1913, he married Nellie Zelnora Van Nay in the Salt Lake Temple. To them were born six children, four girls and two boys. Mable, their first born was married to Richard Johnes Millward in the Salt Lake Temple. To them three boys and one girl have been born. Their first son Benjamin Floyd filled a two years mission in California. After returning home he married Carol Brown and to them have been born two daughters. He went to Washington, D.C., where he received employment with the F. B. I. His two sisters Audra and Margaret joined him all three working in the same building until war broke out. Floyd then joined the Marines and served two and one half years, part of the time overseas. On his return he took up his work with the F. B. I. where he is still employed.

The second son Emery V. joined the U. S. Air Corp. and served for five years. Part time over seas, where he piloted from Burma to China. On his return he married Mary Helen Cattarus. To them a son is born. Since his return from the U. S. Service he has been employed with the United Air Lines. Maurice the youngest daughter of Benj. Marriner has devoted most of her time to music.

Marriner was loved by all who knew him. He had a very pleasing personality, charitable and kind. A promotor and leader in his community, active in church duties, serving as M. I. A. leader previous to his death. He was a member of the Seventies Quorum. His death came as a shock to all who knew him. The fine clean life he lived is exemplified in his children, each active in church activities.

Benj. Marriner died 24 Sep., 1934, at Afton, Wyoming, from injuries he received in a car accident.
