"Aaron Estrabrook was born in Elizabeth Town, Essex County New York December 18,1832. He was therefore seventy-eight years old at the time of his death. At the age of eight years he came west with his parents to Newark, Licking County Ohio. In 1842 he removed to Iowa, landing at Bellevue, Jackson County, May 24. The entire trip from New York State was made by boat. Mr Estabrook at once settled on a farm near where the town of Maquoketa now stands, though at the time was not known. In 1847 he moved to Dubuque County. He married October 21st, 1858 to Miss Margaret Fierstine. To them were born four children, George R., who died at Marshalltown, Iowa August 20,1908, Mrs Laura Hamblin, of this city, Mrs Nettie Henry, of Evanston, Illnois, and Mrs. Jennie Parker of Waterloo. In 1873 Mr. Estabrook came to Delaware County and settled on a farm near Manchester. Here he remained till the death of his life companion April 29,1893. A few months after her death he held a sale and went to Marshalltown to live with his son, but not liking the change he returned to Manchester, and has since made his home with the different children. For the last seven months he has been bedfast at the home of his daughter, Mrs Solon Hamblin, of this city and the death came not unexpected January 06,1911. There were present at the funeral Mr and Mrs Z.D. Henry of Evanston Illnois, Mr and Mrs Martin Parker of Waterloo, Mrs Nora Strub and son Kenneth of Marshalltown. Mr Estabrook was a man well thought of by those who knew him. He was sincere in his manner and honest in his dealings with men. He was not a member of any church, but lived a life dedicated in youth to intergrity and fair dealing with all of mankind. His last sickness was long, but he bore it bravely as he awaited the final call to come to another shore. He would be glad to remain if health could have been restore, but it seemed not to be so he quietly prepared to take his departure to the other world. A few weeks before he died he prepared the obituary which appears in this paper, thus completing the arrangements for his final journey. The funeral services were held at the home of Solon Hamblin on East Main Street Sunday morning January 8th at 11:00am. Rev. W. H. Ensign being in charge. Interment was made at Oakland cemetry."
